Custom Printed Mylar Bags: Turning Packaging Into a Selling Machine

A plain bag definitely has a strange feel to it; it's not complete and is missing half of a sentence (the verb). However, once you have made a print on it, the bag takes on the personality of the brand, its attitude, and sometimes an air of arrogance (depending upon how you've designed the bag). This is the power of custom printing on Mylar materials.
Those who understand this concept view packaging as a persuasive element in their brand's identity instead of just a protective covering for their products. Everything (all the different colors, fonts, and details) that goes into designing the exterior of your product packaging is working behind-the-scenes for you. If done correctly, your bag sells itself before the consumer has read anything printed inside.
For example, when you print on a Mylar bag, you choose how to make your first impression; do you want your design with metallic reflections (because it shows off the quality of the package and your product) or a softer, more matte aesthetic (because it adds to the overall quality!). The Mylar material does not restrict you, it enhances your message.
Here is one area where people fail miserably in their designs: they design for screen-based formats and not printed media. What you see on the screen will vary from what you see in print (i.e. colors shift; high-contrast styles lose contrast; and small details become non-existent in the Mylar material). What looked like a great design on-the-screen no longer appears accurate once it is printed; and by that time, unless you want to start over, you have no way to fix it.
Another area of concern is product consistency across batches of product. It is a well-known fact that if your product (the printed design that goes on your bags) has variance between batches, customers will notice, even if they are unconscious (about the colour shift, etc.). The result: A minor variation introduces doubt; and doubt will destroy any chance you have to create customer trust (via packaging).
If you take creating a great first impression seriously, you must understand every aspect of the entire design print process from design set-up to final print quality; you really have no choice. And that is precisely why being able to access a full-case study on printing on Mylar bags will provide you with a differentiation between guessing and actually knowing!
